2022 Member Show Prospectus


January 14 to February 26, 2022

ENTRY – All PSSC members in good standing and who have paid dues in full (Dues run from Jan 1 – Dec 31) are eligible to participate. (Dues may be paid online prior to or by check at drop-off.) Each member will be allowed one (1) entry. If space is available after all members have submitted one entry, an announcement will be made calling for a 2nd entry. Size limited to 40” including frame. Works must be in soft pastel, no oil pastels accepted. There will be no entry fee. A bin will be available for artist’s prints. Prints must be professionally wrapped and include all artist information and price. Limit of 5 prints per member.

PUBLICITY AND SIZE OF ARTWORK: All members who are planning to enter the show must submit your name (for publicity) and size of artwork (for space estimate) to Barbara Kohn at by December 13, 2021.

PUBLICITY IMAGES: Six high resolution images of artwork (which will be in the exhibition) will be needed for postcards and posters. The first six images received will be used. Submit to by December 13, as well.

SUBMISSIONS OF ARTWORKS - Members must submit the title of work, artist’s name, price or NFS, Instagram or website, email, and phone number via email to Barbara Kohn at by December 28, 2021. Member entry forms will be available for download on Bring your entry form and attach the labels to the back of your painting (s) in the upper right corner at Drop off. Entry number will be assigned on arrival.

DROP OFF – Public Works Art Center, East Gallery, 135 West Richardson Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483 on January 13, 2022, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

RECEPTION: A reception will be held on January 20, 2022, at the gallery 5:30 – 8:30 pm. This reception will be in conjunction with the Third Thursday Event in Downtown Summerville.

AWARDS – A “People’s Choice Award” will be awarded and announced on February 24. Voting ends February 22 at close of business. No Signature points or prizes will be awarded.

PICK UP – February 27 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. If you cannot pick up your painting, please plan for someone else to do so. Storage is not available, and all artworks must be removed.

GALLERY COMMISSION - Public Works Art Center takes a 30% commission for all work sold.


All artwork is to remain on display until the close of the show. Neither the PSSC nor the venue are liable for any damage to or theft of artwork. Only visual fine arts in the form of paintings and drawings are acceptable for PSSC exhibitions or shows. Decorative, computer generated, or any other electronically assisted works are not acceptable. Original artwork only. Works previously entered in PSSC shows and exhibitions are not eligible. All artworks should have quality framing and the hanging wire on the back of the artwork should be exactly 3 inches from the top when stretched.

All paintings done in a school, online demos, “follow along” or YouTube videos, online courses, school-monitored studio, workshops, under instructor supervision or copied from published photographs or photographs made by someone other than the artist or painted over mechanical reproduction are ineligible and will be rejected.

All subjects and styles are eligible, from traditional to contemporary. Artwork must be predominantly (80%) soft pastel. Exhibitor must have full copyright to any piece submitted.

The PSSC Board of Directors, Exhibition Chairperson (s), committee members and gallery staff will have the right to reject any work deemed inappropriate or in violation of any rule at any time.

By exhibiting in this show you accept any and all liability for damage to or loss of your work. Neither the PSSC nor the venue offer any form of liability coverage for your work.
